About Camden Sand and Gravel

Working with commercial suppliers, a clear frustration was identified in the building and landscape supplies industries.  

Landscapers were reporting a lack of quality in materials for their businesses in the South West Sydney region. 

Camden Sand and Gravel was a business created to cater to these frustrations. 

Our first product, tree mulch has been sold though Friendly Fred's Tree Services, owned by Lynne Barrass since 1989. 

The owner and manager of Camden Sand and Gravel is Darren Barrass, which was launched in 2021.

Darren has extensive experience of managing our sister company, Friendly Freds Tree Service since 1998.

Darren has a passion for customer service, a no non-sense approach and hard work approach to operating businesses. 

Camden Sand and Gravel wanted to guarantee the quality of its soils and initiated laboratory testing to ensure they were. 

All our soils have been laboratory tested for Ph, nutrients, nitrogen, and water holding capacities. These are the 'primary' ingredients that ensure a quality product.

To ensure product safety, the products are laboratory tested for asbestos content, ecoli and faecal matter to name a few. 

Numerous major and minor elements have been identified for quality and safety of our products and are tested regularly with an independent laboratory at the Elizabeth Macarthur Agriculture Institute.
